What's It All About?
The Real U Conference is ultimately about exposing empty identity, affirming Jesus identity and challenging you to live out who you are in Christ.
You don't need to search the internet, watch TV, or read the newspaper very long to find out what's being promoted as identity fulfillment: a sculpted body, the career of your dreams, financial wealth, the latest look, the next adventure, the new car, the soul mate you've always dreamed of, this or that award, and on and on and on.
Unfortunately, many of us have bought in with the rest of the world to these lies. Perhaps this is why they can't tell the difference between 'us' and 'them'.
But by the grace of God, Jesus breaks though our darkness to reveal the truth. He opens our eyes to the reality of who He is, of who we were without Him and who we are, and are becoming, in Him. But oh how quickly our eyes can glance away from Him to infinitely lesser treasures.
Who are you? the Real U?
The Speaker
We are blessed to have Mike Jordahl as our conference speaker. Mike grew up in a home where attending church was a priority but in which talk about God was not allowed. He met Christ as a high school senior while living in Madrid. He started college late so he could make money to backpack around Europe, which he did for nine weeks. He first got involved with The Navigators at Illinois St. It was at his first Navigator meeting his freshman year when he met Nancy, the woman who would become his wife..."I was smitten, she didn't like me." Mike and Nancy have been married for over 22 years and have 3 sons: Daniel, Tim, and Peter. Mike currently serves as the Director of the U.S. Collegiate Navigators.

Workshops
Saturday
Christian Citizen: Living for Christ in our Anti-Christian Society. God's View on Religion, Politics, and Social Issues. You've heard the phrase 'separation of church and state' cited quite often in recent years. It is being used to eliminate all implications of God and Jesus Christ from everything even remotely connected to government. As a result, most Christians are hesitant to identify with Christ in the public arena. Many have segregated their Christian beliefs from their views concerning societal issues and policies. After all, we shouldn't force our beliefs on others, should we?
This workshop will help you determine your proper role as a Christian citizen. It will present the background of the phrase 'separation of church and state' and the history of Christian and anti-Christian influence in our government. We will examine current trends of thought and compare them to God's perspective as revealed in the Bible so that you will not be deceived by the philosophy of the world but will know God's will for your public life. (Col 2:8)
Once you know the truth about religious _expression and understand what is really going on in our society, you can be an effective witness for Jesus. You will be able to engage others in meaningful discussions of current issues that will cause them to question their own beliefs and open a way for the truth of the gospel.- Connecting with GodWe'll look at how to build our relationship with God through maintaining a "connectedness" with Him, through the Bible, prayer and seeing Him in everyday experiences of life. Great for those in ANY stage of seeking God.
Freedom from PerformanceNothing you do is ever good enough? Always thinking you should/could done better and feeling guilty? How do you know the difference between performing vs. excelling? Learning to Live in the Essence of Christ instead of the Flesh (for women)2 Cor. 5: 17 says that "the old is gone and the new has come" but why is it that I still see the "old" pop it's ugly head in my life? Like the apostle Paul, I often wonder why is it that "I do(or am) that which I don't want to do(or be)" and "I don't do(or be) what I do want to do(or be)? If you've had these questions and really desire to know practically, what Gal. 2:20 means that "I have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer I who live.." then come join us as we explore together what is the "essence of Christ in us as women and children of God" and how to walk by faith through the struggles of the flesh in our everyday lives.
Letting the Gospel Penetrate your Family RelationsYou are good seed and alive with the image of Christ. Now God's begun this new life in you so His love is introduced into your family. We will look at ways God's love can flow from you to others, like He did in families during biblical times and is doing even today.

God offers us courage, an ability in Christ, to face fear and move past it in victory. Courage is not the absence of fear, but doing what needs to be done despite the fear. In this workshop, we will discover Biblical courage and learn how to apply it to everyday life.

Living as an Insider
PrayerWe will study the Scriptures together on what God says about prayer, I will share my life experiences with prayer, and we will pray!- Scripture Memory: Practical Steps to Know God's Word so that He can Work in You and Through YouGod's word is a sword, the only offensive weapon in the Christian's armor. (Eph 6:14-18) But for a sword to be effective it must be sharp, readily available and deftly handled.
Memorizing Scripture is the best way to take up the sword of God's word so that it can be fully effective in your life and in your ministry to others. Yet few Christians ever memorize more than a couple of verses in their lifetime. Many experience so much failure with memorization that they give up.
Memorization is not easy for me. I have also experienced many failures with it. But I have also learned how to get victory. This workshop will examine the value of memorizing Scripture and present practical ways to help you succeed in this area.
