Description: We can often be tempted to think that the Gospel is one thing and the Christian life another. We can think that Jesus died “so I could go to heaven” (the Gospel), and now I have to figure out how to do all the things we are told to do in the Bible (live the “Christian” life). The problem with this is that it can be very hard to see how they are connected. What is the benefit of “preaching the Gospel to myself everyday” if the Gospel is about heaven and Christian living is about following a list of “scriptural” rules?
What if there was a way of knowing the Gospel that showed us how to live? Jesus said over and over the Good News of the Kingdom starts, not when we get to heaven, but now (if we let Him in), Eternal Life begins now (if we say yes to His amazing invitation). So, the more we grow in our knowing and experiencing the Gospel, the more we will enter into the kind of life we were meant to live. And this life, Kingdom Life, Eternal Life emerges, not from a list of rules to be followed, but from having our hearts transformed through a deep Gospel-centered relationship with the living God.
If we are being restored and transformed in this way, there will not be any area of our lives which is not revived and changed. But one area that seems especially important at this stage of life is the area of male-female relationships. Would you consider coming to Pine Valley for two-and-half weeks to further develop your knowing and living, through the Gospel, with an eye toward letting it begin shaping the ways you relate to the opposite sex—in friendship, in dating, in physical affection, and in thinking about who and when to get married?
There will be much time in the Word individually and together as an STP, one-to-ones with your Team Leader, 4 hours a day of work for Pine Valley (to pay for Room and Board), paintball, and many other sweet opportunities for growth and adventure. Come and be changed. Let the Gospel be how you live…how you see God…how you see others…how you see yourself…and how you see the world.
